Michael and Pam Aloia present this programme of martial art instruction. Aikido is a martial art created by Morihei Ueshiba, with roots in ju-jitsu and early kendo practices. Aikido blends the energies of both the opponent and the practitioner to provide an apex of power to redirect and diffuse potentially violent situations without necessarily inflicting harm. This programme focuses on the principle of movement (dosa) and demonstrates several aikido techniques including sumiotoshi, kokyunage, koshinage, kokyuho, iriminage, kotegaeshi and ukemi.
