Description

Arcana Heart 3, a classic 2D arcade fighting game from Japan, offers plot as well as punches.

In terms of look and feel, think Street Fighter or Marvel vs Capcom but more cute and anime-like. The player has a choice of 23 female characters and 23 'Arcana'. These are "guardian spirits" with special abilities. It's best to think of these as powers. So, the correct combination of Arcana and character will enable the gamer to succeed in battle.

In terms of plot: it's two months since the events of Arcana Heart 2 (in which Angelia Avallone tried to use a dimensional distortion above the Kantou area in Japan for her own ends). Since then the Drexler organisation - responsible for demonic arts in Europe has set up a Japanese branch office called Rosenberg So, the Japanese Spirit Agency sends its Sacred Maidens into battle against the evil Valkyries.

The unique part of combat in Arcana Heart 3 is the inclusion of air attacks and what is called 'Homing'. This enables you at the press of a button to fly rapidly and directly at your opponent.

The game is played out in a variety of modes:

Story: As the name suggests, the gamer battles their way through to the events surrounding the Drexler organisation and the disturbance in Japan.

Training Mode: get to know the controls and the Arcana.

Score Attack Mode: Play the console... and win.

Versus Mode: Play against friends (or foes) or the console.

Network Mode: Gamers can compete online to see who is best.
