Having been smacked as a child for having "silly ideas", Liz Cowley discovered that she could get paid for them and became an advertising copywriter in her teens; Moving through nine international advertising agencies, before becoming freelance, she gained invaluable experience of reaching out to audiences - particularly women - as one of the very few female creative directors, writing on everything from baby foods and cosmetics to the first DIY pregnancy testing kits.
She has written poetry ever since she can remember, for friends and family and for her own solace and amusement.
She is married, with a daughter and two stepsons, and lives in London.
