A live performance by legendary drummer Art Blakey, whose band the Jazz Messengers became one of the most durable names in post-war jazz. At the turn of the Eighties, the Messengers were revitalised by the addition of young guns Wynton and Branford Marsalis on tenor and alto sax respectively and this concert showcases their talents, as well as those of Billy Pierce (tenor), Donald Brown (piano) and Charles Frombrough (bass).
