A Saint in the Making - Mrs Kirsten Kudahl Orton

This story was just waiting to be told: It all started when one of the family dogs got his 'wings'; then Little Barty arrived! Little Barty is the trainee 'Saint in the Making': he is a cross between a yellow Labrador and a St Bernard, in fact he is a Bernador! He is chosen to come and live with Kirsten, the fireman and their two Golden Retrievers, all of whom play a part in his quest to become a Saint Bernador! In the first book Little Barty will be learning his first virtue, which is kindness. Kiri, the older Retriever, agrees that if Little Barty can show her that he has performed ten acts of kindness, then she will teach him how to 'pin his tail'. When Little Barty understands the freedom he will have when he can 'pin his tail', he happily agrees. Little Barty makes friends with flies, water drops, a door stop and Kixi the fairy, to name a few. By the end of the first book, not only has he learnt how to pin his tail but he has also found the first piece of his halo... This is a story for children and young adults and for everyone who loves dogs and their mysterious ways. The Foreword is by the famous author, Dr Robert Lomas who has dogs himself and never ceases to tire of the endless joy and mystery they bring.
