A word in your ear - Jack McArdle

Jack McArdle reflects prayerfully on twenty significant words in the Christian lexicon: humility, gratitude, affirmation, honesty, hope, listening, joy, forgiveness, service, time, compassion, discipline, reflection, tolerance, action, thoughtfulness, speech, acceptance, and change. In his introduction to the book, the author says: "I chose words that came to me spontaneously, and put them in the order in which they came. I deliberately, however, selected Humility as the opening reflection, because I believe that if I can get this one right, the others will be possible. Without humility, there is no hope of being compassionate, forgiving, accepting, or grateful. Humility is the mother of all the virtues. Through reflecting on these words, it is my hope that we might become more aware of what they involve, and be more open to practising the virtue in our daily living. While the Spirit is the principal catalyst of Christian living, it is necessary that we be open to practice as well. "
