We all know that the flight simulator game is a continually expanding genre that plays host to myriad sequels, add-ons and expansions each year. The majority of them are for Microsoft Flight Simulator games, but there are a few add-on packs that offer themselves to other games. IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles is one such game, and now it has its very own expansion pack from Just Flight, called Battle Over Europe.

Continuing with the Second World War theme, Battle Over Europe is more or less a series of additional campaigns that take place during the final year of the war. Largely covering the airspace of Germany and France, BOE hosts a total of 12 new campaigns - six for the allies, six for the enemy - in which players are charged with taking to the skies in a broad selection of aircraft before being met with a series of mission objectives that must be accomplished to progress. It's a typical flight sim-add-on affair, and though it doesn't offer any real surprises, it assists in making the world of IL-2 Sturmovik much more comprehensive and immersive. What's more, aircraft aficionados can relish in the fact that BOE also brings with it a few additional planes, including the P-47D-22 and P-51D-5.
