Description

Triple bill of British comedies from the 1950s and '60s. In 'The Battle of the Sexes' (1959) American businesswoman Angela Barrows (Constance Cummings) is sent by her company to Edinburgh and, while there, meets Robert MacPherson (Robert Morley), a company manager who has just inherited his father's textile business and wants her advice on updating it to modern standards. Before long Angela is introducing all sorts of new-fangled ideas and the employees, scandalised that they have to work under a female boss, turn to Mr Martin (Peter Sellers), who promises to lead the fight against the interloper. In 'Ladies Who Do' (1963) a group of charladies, led by Mrs Merryweather (Dandy Nicholls), speculate on the stockmarkets, using information gleaned from tips they find in office wastepaper baskets. In 'The Boy Who Stole a Million' (1960) 12-year-old Paco (Maurice Reyna) is a runner at a Valencia bank. When the taxi belonging to his father, Miguel (Virgilio Teixeira), needs repairing, Paco decides to 'borrow' money from the bank to pay for the costs, meaning his father will be able to work during an upcoming festival. However, the bank soon discovers money is missing and pursues Paco in an effort to get it back. A gangster mob also joins in on the chase, making the situation more dangerous for Paco.
