Haws owen is situated in the northern corner of Worcester shire, four miles and a half from Stourbridge, five miles from Dudley, and seven from Birmingham. Although not mentioned in the ninth edition of the Encyclopaedia Bri tannica, Hales Owen parish had inhabitants at the taking of the census in 1881. It is composed of 15 Civil Parishes or Townships, which are divided between three different Poor Law Unions.
