Mario Bava directs this Italian horror comprising three individual narratives. In 'The Telephone' a woman (Michle Mercier) is tormented by a former lover who has been released from prison. In 'The Wurdalak' a man (Boris Karloff) returns home having been turned into a vampire. As he infects members of the household his daughter (Susy Anderson) runs away with a visiting nobleman (Mark Damon) but finds herself drawn back to her family. In 'The Drop of Water' a nurse (Jacqueline Pierreux) is tormented by strange goings-on after she steals a ring from the corpse of an elderly woman.
