Black lament - Christina Henry

As an agent of death, working on the mean streets of Chicago, Madeline Black deals with loss every day. Then one day tragedy touches her own life and Maddy has to find the strength within to carry on. Devastated and grieving for the loss of her lover, Maddy discovers she is pregnant. Her joy is short lived when Lucifer, who also happens to be her grandfather, pays her a visit and informs her that he wants to take the baby, with an evil plan to use the combined power of the baby's two bloodlines.
