Boomerang - Stewart Giles

A man is killing people in York. The murders appear to be the acts of a random maniac. Detective Sergeant Jason Smith is put in charge of the investigation. It soon becomes apparent that the murders are all connected to him. After each murder the killer writes a date on the feet of the victims and sends Smith taunting messages saying 'Can you see what it is yet?' All of the dates correspond to important dates in Smith's life. Although the killer leaves evidence behind him everywhere he strikes, Smith and his team cannot seem to figure out who this man is or why he is doing this. As the body count increases so does the pressure on Smith to catch the first serial killer in the history of York. When the killer leaves behind his calling card at one of the murder scenes and it is a date before Smith was even born, Smith realises he must look to the past to stand any chance of catching this lunatic.
