Description

The entire second series of the 1980s BBC drama series centred around the lives of the Laceys, an aristocratic and monarchy-loving family, during the English Civil War in the 17th century. Their family home, Arnescote Castle, is now in the hands of staunch Parliamentarian John Fletcher (Rob Edwards), the husband of Anne Lacey (Sharon Maughan). The trial and execution of Charles I appears to put an end to the Royalist cause and the Fletchers recieve Oliver Cromwell (Peter Jeffrey) at Arnescote, unaware of the dangers involved. The opposing family loyalties put a great strain on John and Anne's marriage.
