It is 2008, and controversy and gaming go hand in hand. There's another Grand Theft Auto game in the pipeline, the UK government is giving it the big 'I Am' regarding sales of games of a certain bent to people of a certain age. For every pet simulator available, you can bet your bottom dollar there is a game featuring lovely sorts of death. Cabela's Big Game Hunter is somewhere in between, for sure. Yes, Big Game Hunter is a videogame that charges players with picking off unwitting moose, elk, deer and the like, with a steady sniper rifle. Delightful. Taken at face value - a hunting game - it does its job of immersing players in a game that's about as straightforward and no-nonsense as they come in 2008 (note that this title has been released before, in simpler times, on PlayStation 2). It's very much a case of choosing your hunter, choosing your weapon, and taking to the scenery of greenery for a shooting session. But there are hazards, and should you encounter one of the game's wild cats or bears, you may find yourself in a life-threatening situation. It serves you right, you savages!
