Caf Einklang - Open University

Designed for near beginners or those wishing to revise language skills to build to GCSE/NVQ level 1 standard, this text is suitable for both independent learning and use in adult education. It is based around seven working days at an imaginary cafe in Wuppertal, supported by situations (eg a new member of staff), through which functions, vocabulary and structures are introduced. Characters, language and setting realistically reflect the diversity of German society. The book incorporates a variety of authentic materials and is supported by two audio cassettes to practice speaking and listening skills. The themes are developed further in "Auftakt", although both courses stand alone.
