Although Cannonball Adderley experimented with assorted styles and formats during his career, 'Cannonball's Bossa Nova' (aka 'Cannonball Adderley and the Bossa Rio Sextet') continues to be an unusual work in his discography. This was not only true because of the Brazilian style to which the LP is devoted, but also because he isn't featured in the company of his usual collaborators, nor any other American jazz musicians. Instead, he's backed by a combo of Brazilian musicians led by the great pianist Sergio Mendes and drummer Dom Um Romão, who later became a member of Weather Report.
