Canterbury Cathedral in Old Photographs records the living history of this incredible monument to the Christian faith and architectural treasure. The author has selected images from private archives, including a number of fascinating Second World War postcards to show how Canterbury Cathedral has been a part of the local community of Canterbury through the years, as well as playing an important role nationally. The images seek not only to highlight the many stunning architectural features that any visitor to the cathedral will not fail to note, but also to reflect on the building's long history, from the first abbey and cathedral established in the 6th century, through the bombings and rebuilding after the Second World War to its designation as a World Heritage Site.
