For the first time on PlayStation, Monster Hunter fans can explore the Monster Hunter Stories strand of Capcom's legendary franchise! Monster Hunter Stories Monster Hunter Stories is an RPG spin-off of Capcom's much loved creature killing series, and it comes with a slightly more cuddly twist. This time out, rather than being a monster hunter, you play as a rider. Rather than simply trying to put the beasts down, you'll venture into monster dens to steal eggs. You won't necessarily know what you're getting, but once it hatches you'll tame and train it to help you in your quest, joining your ever-growing team of Monsties! That quest involves an ancient evil known as the Blight. It has descended on your village and your world to turn once peaceful beasts into frenzied monsters. It's up to you and your furry Felyne companion, Navirou, to ride out and put a stop to this scourge. Your Monsties won't have it easy, however, and despite the fact that you're not a hunter there's fighting to be done. In a twist on the series' traditional formula, however, the combat is turn-based and you'll deploy your rider and team of five Monsties tactically to win in battle. You can even take the fight to other players with either online or Local Play. Monster Hunter Stories has a cel-shaded anime-ish visual style that's brighter than other games from the series, and that's reflected right through the lush, vibrant world that you'll explore. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin In the second instalment of Monster Hunter Stories, Wings of Ruin, you play as Red, the grandson of a legendary Rider. Things kick off when you encounter a Wyverian girl called Ena who's been entrusted with an egg that could hatch into a legendary Rathalos, with potentially destructive consequences. A few things were changed for this sequel. One is that the random factor has been taken out of fights, meaning you'll no longer find a monster suddenly attacking out of character and messing up your strategy. Another was that the art style was matured slightly, with characters looking a bit less like chibos and a bit more in-proportion. The biggie, though, was arguably that monster breeding has been taken out of the end game and incorporated into the main story. It was just too much fun to make people wait for!
