Meet Freddie the horse, who has always wanted to be a famous football referee, but who finds himself up against the fury of the greatest player ever known; Ray, the kindly lion hairdresser who has a terrible accident with two horrid customers; Rose, the canine detective out to rescue the Queen's stolen jewels from a rather smelly thief; the would-be Frog-Prince determined to get his maiden even though she refuses to kiss his slimy skin; and Doctor Owl, who prescribes a disgusting diet to encourage a fussy eater to mend his ways!

Author Carolyn May was originally inspired by Roald Dahl as a child and has now written these stories in tribute to the enormous pleasure his books gave her when a youngster herself. She thinks her animals might possibly be even a bit more troublesome though!

Well known children's illustrator Laura Liberatore adds a delightful set of illustrations to give a charming insight into the characters' appearances and emotions.
