Chandler's Ford - Barbara J. Hillier

Chandler's Ford was home to Bronze-Age man, and this book tells its story from those prehistoric times to the present day, now forming a residential suburb of the Borough of Eastleigh. Straddling the main road from Southampton to Winchester it grew out of a few scattered farming communities, in an area of heath, woodland and wet-meadows, into a 19th-century village dependent on the local brick-making industry. The development of Chandler's Ford falls within the era of photography and the author illustrates every aspect of its changing scenery.
