Collection of three British film dramas. 'Prick Up Your Ears' (1987) tells the life story of controversial 1960s playwright Joe Orton (Gary Oldman), revealed in flashback after his murder by lover Kenneth Halliwell (Alfred Molina). Born in Leicester, Orton moves to London and enjoys an openly gay relationship with Halliwell in their famous Islington flat. However, when Orton achieves spectacular success with such plays as 'What the Butler Saw' and 'Loot', Halliwell begins to feel alienated and the pair's future looks increasingly uncertain. 'Made in Britain' (1982) is Alan Clarke's critically acclaimed study of alienation and disaffection in Thatcher's Britain. Skinhead Trevor (Tim Roth) is a car thief with no regard whatsoever for authority figures. His social worker realises that Trevor is highly intelligent, but any attempts to control his behaviour have disastrous results - Trevor is set on the road to self-destruction. 'Meantime' (1983) is set in East London in the early 1980s. Frank Pollack (Jeff Robert) and his sons Mark and Colin (Phil Daniels and Roth) are all unemployed. The situation seems hopeless, and things are made worse when Colin's Auntie Barbara (Marion Bailey) tries to help out by offering him some decorating work, an act which arouses Mark's jealousy and ultimately effects everyone in the family.
