Film-makers Barbara Brancaccio and Joshua Zeman examine a horrifying urban myth from their childhood in this documentary. Having grown up in Staten Island, the pair were told tales of an escaped mental patient called Cropsey who lived in the abandoned Willowbrook Mental Institution and kidnapped children. Now adults, the pair return to the area to examine reports that Cropsey came to life and began abducting children in the late 1980s. A man would be convicted for the disappearances but the film-makers remain sceptical about his guilt.
