This archive documentary looks at the opening of the Playhouse cinema in Edinburgh in 1929. It would be the second largest cinema in Scotland, with a seating capacity of 3000, and would take pride of place in a city that had more than 30 cinemas. Also included is 'Edinburgh's Silver Screens' and 'Matinee Memories', looking at the city and its cinemas in the 1950s.
