Bubbly yet commanding Shantell O'Doherty dreams of being a poet and novelist. Of course, this will take some organising, so in the meantime she does what anyone in her position would do. She becomes an undertaker.

Shantell's life is soon a whirling confusion of mistaken identities, wild Kerry men, lunatic taxi drivers, rampaging policemen, involuntary evictions and hi-jacking pensioners.
