Description

Strategy games have been known to cover many themes in the past. These games have been based in space and medieval environments to name but a few. But the Wild West theme has been left untouched - until now. Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive is the first game of its kind based in a Wild West scenario. Set in New Mexico after the World War Sessions, the Twinnings & Co Railroad Company continues to be robbed. Hired for a large sum of cash, John Cooper (you) must team up with five other Desperados and bring the raids to an end. Desperados has been extremely well presented, incorporating some stunning cut scenes and FMV. The original Wild West environments of Desperados have been showcased in high-resolution pre-rendered backdrops that look absolutely amazing. There are 25 locations in all that can take place at night, sunset, in fortresses and even goldmines. Some stages encourage the player to employ stealth tactics, while others are completely different, involving shootouts, knife throwing and brawling. There are also many props available for players to use, including dynamite, rattlesnakes and chemicals, all of which help to make Desperados as diverse as possible. The opposition within Desperados remains the most challenging aspect of the game, and has been programmed with superior AI. Each of the 25 enemies have different profiles, abilities and statistics, meaning a different strategy must be adopted for each one to progress though the game. Desperados is an accomplished title that shows plenty of originality and innovation within the strategy genre.
