The process of extracting oil from tar sands is energy-intensive and pollution-heavy, posing a threat to the natural environment and the health of nearby communities. The US is now importing more oil from Canada than from anywhere else, and most of this comes from tar sands. In meeting this demand, Canada has become one of the world's foremost emitters of greenhouse gases, with potentially disastrous effects. Neve Campbell narrates this documentary looking into the environmental, political and financial implications of the practice.
