Description

The River Humber is one of Britain's great waterways. In the 1970s local film-maker John Howard and keen sailor began filming his exploration of the River Humber as the great columns of the Humber Bridge were going up and the slow demise of the fishing ports of Hull and Grimsby was beginning the gather pace. This release features three short films: 'Sailing on the Humber' - filmed in the late 1970s, discover the Humber in its many moods from the wild and exhilirating to the calm and misty drift. 'Emma' features an array of yachts, boats, barges, ships, places and wildlife found on the east coast during the 1970s. 'Paddle Steamers', filmed in 1980, is an homage to the last days of the coal burning ferry boats that plied their trade between New Holland in Lincolnshire to thepier in Hull.
