Life is Strange: True Colors marks a new era for the series. Deck Nine, which developed the prequel to the first game, now has its hands on the wheel for a new entry in the series, with an all-new cast of characters to tell its own story with. The lead of True Colors is Alex, a product of the foster care system who has been grappling with a strange and sometimes difficult special ability - she can experience, manipulate and sometimes absorb the abilities of other people. When her brother is killed in a mysterious 'accident' in the idyllic Colorado mining town of Haven Springs it falls to Alex to find out what happened, and what the mining company that basically runs the town had to do with it. Alex's power does a lot to enrich the narrative, with emotions manifesting as blazes of colour, or maybe as flowers blooming everywhere, or in one instance turning the park into a medieval ruin with a lord of the undead to fight. This richness is emblematic of the whole game, though. Haven Springs is a living, breathing place woven through with layer upon layer or narrative, and plenty of secrets for you to uncover. A juicy narrative experience awaits.
