Description

Dirk the Daring is back in Dragon's Lair 3D on the PC, an update to the classic 1983 laser-disk game. Princess Daphne is in great danger, the evil dragon Singe has captured her and is holding her hostage. Assume the role of Dirk and undertake the valiant quest of rescuing your princess. The gameplay has completely changed from the original version. Player's who might be used to pressing the correct direction at the right time are in for a pleasant surprise. No longer is the animation spooled off disk, but instead it is rendered in real-time, the way it was originally designed but never realised due to the technical limitations of the time.

This means that you can control Dirk and interact with the environments in a way never possible before. Running, jumping, crouching, somersaulting are all new tricks to our hero. Although the premise is similar to the original, Dragon's Lair 3d introduces brand new levels, enemies and puzzles. Don Bluth has even lent a hand in creating the new designs and characters. The castle is made up of 16 unique areas, each with multiple rooms and dangers. This time around Dirk can use items, change weapons and drink potions to regain his dwindling health. Dragon's Lair 3D uses the cell-shading technique of rendering graphics, where a thick black line is drawn around the edges of the polygons to simulate a hand drawn appearance. Coupled with textures from the laser-disk version the modelled world comes to life. Dragon's Lair is back, are you ready for the adventure?
