Description

German produced mini-series about the controversial firebombing of the city by Allied Forces in 1945, in which over 30, 000 people were killed. The central plot revolves around a love affair between German nurse Anna Mauth (Felicitas Woll) and downed British pilot Robert Newman (John Light), who is hiding out in the hospital where Anna works. The first examination of the events from a German perspective, the film inevitably raises questions about the reasons and necessity for the action, coming as it did in the last months of the war.
