Fluorescent lighting and "off-peak" electric heating systems are also covered together with the protective multiple earthing (PME) system and inspection and tests required on completed installations such as the earth-fault loop-impedance and ring-circuit continuity tests. The author also discusses the principal wiring systems available for domestic use including steel, aluminium and PVC conduit, PVC and tough rubber sheathed cable, the mineral-insulated copper-sheathed system and prefabricated systems.
