Need for Speed is back and better than ever in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2. Get back in the driver's seat and engage in the next generation thrill of arcade racing with the highly anticipated successor to the acclaimed NFS Hot Pursuit.

EA's long running Need for Speed series has made mediocre appearances on several previous generation platforms and this is the first time it's visited Nintendo hardware. But with a plethora of sequels and development time behind it and as well the GameCube powerhouse, Hot Pursuit 2 is easily the favourite for best in series.

Staying true to the heritage of the series, Hot Pursuit 2 houses a stable of over 20 exotic cars from the world's most coveted licensors including Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini - anything European, basically. But at least you'll have 20 sizeable courses to race on, many of which are a good 15 miles in length, and with numerous twists, turns and hairpins scattered throughout, it'll take a good few minutes to reach the finish line.

But it's not all smooth racing and time trials a la Gran Turismo - there's an army of law enforcing and seemingly inescapable cops on your trail. They want to pull you over, but drive smart and you shouldn't have a great deal of trouble. Just watch out for deadly hazards as you negotiate river crossings, volcanoes and bush fires.

Overcoming the challenges set by Hot Pursuit 2 rewards players with new cars, new circuits and high performance upgrades. It's not an easy task, but when you do emerge victorious, you just know it was down to your own skill and practice, and it's infinitely satisfying in that respect.

If you want to get on the right side of the law, 'Be the Cop' mode gives players themselves the opportunity to do the pursuing, in an effort to rid those pesky law-breaking criminals. And for added enjoyment, get stuck into a competitive mode as either cop or criminal in a genuinely exciting multi-player mode.

Whatever you're racing style or moral stance, Hot Pursuit 2 has enough variety to satisfy everyone's adrenaline-fuelled appetite.
