Dr. Amna Mohammed Bedri has an MA TESOL from Moray House College and a PhD from the University of Khartoum. She is co-author of English for Islamic Studies and Assistant Professor at the Ahfad Institute of Languages, Ahfad University for Women, Sudan. She has been teaching English for about 25 years in schools and universities in Sudan and abroad and was Head of the English Language Unit for eight years. Now, she coordinates postgraduate studies and teacher training, teaches TEFL and postgraduate students, and supervises and examines MA and PhD theses. Amna has contributed to English language and Study Skills syllabuses for the university. She was Head of the English Department at Omdurman Islamic University for twelve years. Amna has also published research in the area of Education, particularly Girls’ Education, and is co-editing a book on the same topic. She helped establish and is President of the Association for Sudanese Teachers of English Language in 2007.
