Cup-Holders Manchester United returned to Wembley to salvage something from the 1994-95 season after just having lost the Premiership to Blackburn Rovers. Everton, resurgent under Joe Royle, had just avoided relegation from the Premiership and were seen as the underdogs in the Cup Final. The Merseysiders eventually won out with a mixture of their 'Dogs of War' and 'School of Science' styles of football, with a winning goal from veteran striker Paul Rideout who headed in after Graham Stuart's audacious pass off the underside of the crossbar.
