Description

All the highlights from the 2006 FA Cup Final. Being no strangers to comeback performances, that Istanbul spirit was called upon again as West Ham raced into a 2-0 lead. It was the Liverpool captain that inspired the team again, as Gerrard's superb cross found Cisse and Liverpool were back in the game. The Reds continued to look for the equaliser and found it as Gerrard pounced on a Crouch knock-down to level it. The drama continued as West Ham's Paul Konchesky delivered a hopeful cross that looped into the net to restore the Hammers' lead but entering injury time Gerrard rocketed home one of the best goals ever scored in the competition to take the final to Extra Time. Inevitably the match went to a dreaded penalty shootout but with Reina in goal and memories of Istanbul, it was Liverpool that looked the most confident. History was made as strikes from Hamann, Gerrard and Riise saw the Cup return to Anfield.
