Fantasian: Neo Dimenson is a real RPG fan's RPG. There's a pedigree here. The game is developed by Mistwalker, which was founded by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the godfather of Final Fantasy. And the score is composed by Nobuo Uematsu, composer of many of Final Fantasy's iconic scores. Fantasian was originally an exclusive to Apple Arcade, but now it's finally getting the big(gish) screen release it deserves, through no less than Square Enix, publisher of the Final Fantasy games, and under the title Fantasian: Neo Dimension. True to all that heritage, Fantasian takes old school JRPG elements and gives them a modern feel. It's definitely one for the JRPG faithful, even if it's a bit more approachable than its previous incarnation. As an example: old school: the game's backgrounds are static. New school: they're actually hand built dioramas that have been digitised, giving everything a wonderful sense of texture. In the game Mechteria, a deadly mechanical infection that steals away the emotions and lives of humans, is creeping through the world. You awaken as Leo, grasping onto your one remaining memory, and from there you must use your warp device to set off on an interdimensional journey to recover your memories and save the world.
