This Special Double Issue of Fashion Theory on Muslim Fashions has been awarded an Honorable Mention at the CELJ Awards in 2007. This issue grows out of an awareness of the dearth of literature about Muslim fashion practices and a more general lack of literature that engages with the relationship between religion and fashion. It discusses how, for many Muslim women, religion, fashion, and politics are not incompatible but intimately related and reworked through dress.
