The Foord viaduct, built in the 1840s under the guidance of engineer Sir William Cubitt, is one of Folkestone's most iconic and beloved structures. The area in its vicinity has seen many changes over the years, from the disappearance of old shops and industries to the redevelopment of land for new housing and businesses. But before the community's heritage is lost forever, we can look back at how these streets and spaces used to be, in contrast with how they are now.
