Kick-Ass, the comic book smash hit no-one was expecting, poses an interesting question. What would really happen if a real kid decided to put on a costume and go out and fight crime? Starring Aaron Johnson and Chloe Moretz, the film and its sequel put that to the test and the result was a lot of blood and a lot of violence.
By the time we got to the second comic and its film adaptation the whole thing arguably wasn't quite so grounded in reality any more, but that's OK. You see, Freedom Factory Studios and UIG Entertainment have got together to make a video game of the sequel, following on from the games outing of the first film. The game is a hack 'n' slash brawler and, frankly, who wants ultra realism in a beat 'em up?
Featuring brutal finishing moves and animations lifted right from the movie, the game stays true to the style of the film as players step into the bizarre costumes of Kick-Ass and Hit Girl so they can head out into the city and fight crime. The game draws on both the original comic by superstars Mark Millar and John Romita Jr and the film directed by Matthew Vaughn. The Red Mist has inherited his family's criminal empire and, reinventing himself as a supervillain he sets out to wage all-out war on both the city and the newly-arisen community of superheroes.
