'Peter Gabriel 1' is the debut solo studio album by English progressive rock singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel, released in 1977. Gabriel's first four solo albums were simply named 'Peter Gabriel' and he wanted them to be considered like numbers of a magazine. Since this approach led to difficulties for dealers and fans people came to use unofficial titles for the albums, with the first album being dubbed 'Car'. Produced by Bob Ezrin and including musicians such as guitarist Robert Fripp, and his future King Crimson bandmate Tony Levin on bass.
