This film tells the story of the chess tournament/scientific experiment that took place in May 1997 between Garry Kasparov, widely regarded as the greatest chess player in history, and Deep Blue - a one-and-a-half ton IBM supercomputer. In order to win the game, the computer did what many thought impossible at the time: it appeared to think like a human. The film looks into the emotional turmoil the game caused for Kasparov, and portrays the media frenzy that surrounded the event.
