Geography for Common Entrance - John Widdowson

This text is for all schools preparing pupils for Common Entrance Geography. Prepared in collaboration with Paul Baker, Chief Examiner for ISEB's Common Entrance Geography, this book comprehensively covers the thematic content of the Common Entrance Geography Syllabus, through an enquiry-based approach.



It uses stimulating activities and real-life cases as a way into geographical enquiry.



It provides in-depth investigations and purposeful tasks which aim to challenge pupils and deepen their understanding.



The material is adapted from John Widdowson's best-selling series of Key Stage 3 textbooks Earthworks, with extra material written specifically for this edition.



Each unit in this text includes material at four levels:

* Groundwork - which introduces the unit based on pupils' experience of geography;

* Framework - which covers all the key geographical ideas and syllabus content necessary for understanding the unit;

* Building Blocks - which provides two or three geographical enquiries based on the Framework ideas, using real places and case studies at a range of scales;

* Digging Deeper - which provides an in-depth look at a topical issue related to the unit to extend the more able pupils.



ICT tasks and extended assignments are included throughout. The associated Teacher's Resource Book provides extensive support for all the tasks.
