Description

This documentary chronicles the creation of armed destroyers for the German navy before and during the Second World War. Developed from the torpedo boats used in the First World War, the destroyers were first constructed in the mid-1930s. Out of the forty built, twenty seven were lost over the course of the conflict, the remainder playing an important role in helping refugees flee to the west in the Baltic Sea retreat operations of 1944 and 1945.
