Glasgow has launched authors as diverse as George Blake, John Buchan, Moira Burgess, Catherine Carswell, Margaret Thomson Davis, Ronald Frame, Alan Spence, Janice Galloway, Robin Jenkins, Carl MacDougall, James Kelman and Alasdair Gray. Over the last 30 years the city has witnessed what Moira Burgess so aptly describes as a 'perfect explosion of talent' and today a generation of writers is emerging to find their own place on Scotland's world stage. People write for many different reasons - this volume marks the contribution made by community writing groups.
