Description

Sports documentary tracking the history of British football over three decades from the 1920s to the 1950s. After the Great War, battle commenced on the football field. The Football Association was looking for a new venue for the Cup Final, and Wembley Stadium suited the bill - but no one could have predicted the size of the crowd that attended the first Wembley Final in 1923. The film features rare archive footage including PC George Scorey and 'Billy' in the White Horse Final of 1923, Cardiff City - still the only non-English team to lift the cup, the dominance of Newcastle United during the 1950s, the Matthews' Cup Final of 1953 and the Munich Air disaster of 1958. All the facts and figures from each Cup Final are also included.
