This readable and accessible book gives the history of the world's major beer styles and the different brewing methods that created them. It takes the reader around the world in search of great beers and provides a fascinating insight into beer making and beer styles. A particular beer is chosen to represent each style. Lowenbrau for instance, is discussed as an example of a Bavarian lager. All the interesting information on that beer is discussed, the taste of the beer is described and a recipe provided. The recipes do not attempt to replicate a particular beer as it is extremely difficult to do this. However, it is quite possible to brew in the general style of a country or area so the key ingredients and process to brew in style of that region or country are given for the practitioner to learn and experiment. The beer will be different in all sorts of subtle ways but not necessarily inferior. Beers selected for the book are those widely available in all parts of the world.
