Dresden-based composer and producer Sven Helbig created 'Requiem A' to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, honoring the victims of war and sending a profound plea for peace. The 'A' in the title stands for 'beginning' (German: Anfang) and uses poetic images to call for reconciliation and a new beginning. 'Departure' (German: Aufbruch), 'ashes' (German: Asche) and 'breathing' (German: Atmen) are key words in the texts, which seek a way out of mourning and into life.
