Triple bill of documentaries exploring one of the world's most glamorous and popular sports. 'The History of the Grand Prix' looks at the origins of motor racing and the United Kingdom's first purpose-built circuit at Brooklands. It then focuses on the advent of commercial advertising and computer-aided technological advancements which make Formula 1 what it is today. 'Great Circuits' profiles three legendary Formula 1 racing circuits - the Nurburgring, Silverstone and Monaco. The Nurburgring is tucked away in the Eiffel Mountains in Western Germany and is a circuit that is longer, more dramatic and more difficult to master than any other in the world. Silverstone is the very heartland of motor racing and is the central point for most of the teams in Grand Prix racing. Finally, Monaco is arguably the most famous circuit in the world and the extremely tight track always proves a major challenge for drivers. 'Great Circuits: Volume 2' examines two of the world's most exciting race circuits: the home of Italian motor racing at Monza, and the fast, triangular-shaped course at Spa in the Ardennes region of Belgium. The programme also takes a look at three of France's most famous tracks: Reims, Rouen, and Le Mans.
