Historical documentary exploring the life of King Vajiravudh, Rama 6th of the Chakri dynasty of Siam, modern Thailand. The King was the first from Thailand to be educated in the West and made great efforts to continue to reform Thai society as his father, King Chulalongkorn, had done. Trying to balance his role as monarch with his support of democracy proved a tough task and some of his decisions were not very popular among certain groups. The programme was made with the support of the Museum to his memory in Bangkok and is dedicated to the remarkable school he founded, Vajiravudh College.
