Description

Sophie Fiennes directs this portrait of the congregation of the Greater Bethany Community Church in the tough neighbourhood of South Central Los Angeles. Led into worship by the charismatic Bishop Noel Jones, along with a full gospel choir, the people of this deprived community have many difficult, and some tragic, circumstances to contend with in their daily lives. This documentary shows the important role that religious faith and divine inspiration can play in a world that can otherwise offer little hope, and the impact that a powerful preacher like Bishop Jones has on his community.
